DOLE launches 3rd wave Skills Registry System in Central Luzon

December 6, 2012

doleCITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Dec. 6 (PIA) — Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has launched the third wave of its Skills Registry System (SRS) in Central Luzon covering 13 towns and one city.

Included under the new SRS are Maria Aurora and Casiguran in Aurora; Samal and Orion in Bataan; Plaridel and Guiguinto in Bulacan; Talavera and Palayan City in Nueva Ecija; Sta. Rita and Mexico in Pampanga; Paniqui and Capas in Tarlac; and Masinloc and San Marcelino in Zambales.

“SRS is a national database registry system that links the country’s active labor supply with the current manpower demands both locally and abroad,” DOLE Regional information officer Jerry Borja said.

The registry contains information on the qualifications and skills of the registrants.

“Its system has been hooked with the databases of local and foreign companies and various government agencies such as the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in order to expedite job hunting and processing as well as to lessen the cost of applicants,” Borja added.

Cities of Malolos and San Fernando earlier served as pilot areas of SRS in the region while the second wave had the towns of Bocaue and Marilao in Bulacan, Limay and Mariveles in Bataan and cities of Angeles, Tarlac and Olongapo.

“With SRS, jobseekers will have an easier access to employment opportunities both here and abroad regardless of their educational attainment,” Borja said.

The project is DOLE’s solution in addressing jobs mismatch, which is one of the priority concerns of President Benigno Aquino III as mandated by his administration’s 22 point labor and employment agenda. (WLB/CLJD PIA-3)
